This is a great project for beginners. It was one of my first knitting in the round projects. The only tip that I have, which will seem really obvious for more experienced knitters, is to change to double-pointed needles when there are too few stitches to use a circular needle . It took me a few months to figure this out and I had some very tired hands by the end of my knitting in the round projects. When you can't figure out what a knitting instruction within a pattern means, go to You Tube! I used You Tube to teach me how to knit. There are so many video tutorials that show you exactly what to do, it's great!

If you are not into owls, you could just skip the cable pattern and do stockinette the whole way! Still cute!
